Free Bedtime Chart for Young Child: Improve Nighttime Routines

A consistent bedtime routine can make evenings calmer for everyone. Our Free Bedtime Chart uses a simple “3 Strikes” system to help young children understand expectations while giving parents a clear, fair structure for bedtime behavior.

With this system, children can earn up to three strikes during the bedtime routine. Strikes might happen for things like getting out of bed repeatedly, refusing to follow directions, or delaying the routine.

  • 0 Strikes: Your child earns a special privilege the next day (extra story, small reward, choosing breakfast, etc.).

  • 1–2 Strikes: No rewards or consequences — just the normal bedtime routine.

  • 3 Strikes: Your child earns a clear consequence, such as losing a privilege the next day.

This approach works because it keeps the rules simple, predictable, and consistent. Children know exactly what to expect, and parents can calmly follow the same structure each night.

Download the free chart, post it where your child can see it, and let them track their progress toward a successful bedtime!

Want to Take Behavior Management a Step Further?

If you’re looking for a more structured approach to child discipline, The Parent Coach Plan offers an in-home behavior program designed to help parents build a system that works long term.

The program teaches parents how to create firm, fair, consistent, and structured discipline strategies that reduce power struggles and improve cooperation at home. Instead of reacting to behavior in the moment, you’ll learn how to set clear expectations and follow through with confidence.
